Later I will post pics of Eastwood park and of the schools. My husband has the camera that has those pics on them. I love that from the high school steps you can look and see the skyline of Houston. Also, from the baseball diamond of Eastwood Park you can see the skyline... I love that!

One other thing.... obviously these are not just pics of Eastwood and the pics of Eastwood are only of one street. We took pics along the street we bought our house on, but only that street.

Thank you Topaz! I am actually surprised I was able to download pics I'm usually not very computer savvy.

Loved the chickens. The neighborhood looks exactly like South Georgia.

The BG Group and One Park Place buildings have almost completely transformed the skyline. Welcome to the 21st century, Downtown Houston!

These pictures are amazing. Thanks for taking the time to post them! I'm really proud that our Houstonians are making the historical neighborhoods alive again. There is a ton of charm and history behind Eastwood, I'm can't wait to see where it's in a few more years. I wish I had the cash to invest in some of those homes and bring them back to life!

The pictures are fantastic. This imagery is why people have been moving back into Eastwood. It is a beautiful walk into downtown from the neighborhood. I wish you could have posted a picture of the park area with the covered basketball area and the skate ramps. The kids love this. Maybe someone else has pictures?

BTW - for those that wonder why people are moving back in, please be reminded of the following:

https://www.houstonisd.org/ResearchAccountability/Home/SP_SAT-ACT/Memos/SAT%20memo%202011.pdf (broken link)

The above link showed the following data:
Eastwood Academy average SAT for 2011 was 1378
Austin Sr High average SAT for 2011 was 1048

The following data was found at the respective university website:
25% of enrolled Freshmen in UT at Austin scored 1630 or less
25% of enrolled Freshmen in TA&M scored 1580 or less
25% of enrolled Freshmen in UoH scored ~ 1380 or less

I would conclude the entirety of Eastwood Academy is a good match for UoH with some students matching up with either UT or TA&M. I would also conclude that a large number of Austin Sr HS would be a good fit for UoH and some would also be a good for UT or TA&M. This is awesome work by our local educators!

Since I did not find a hard number for entrance requirements for the noted schools above, I went north and pulled this from Oklahoma for an example:
Freshman Admissions Requirements - Admissions - The University of Oklahoma

Students from Texas would be required to have an SAT score of 1170 and GPA of 3.0 - or - graduate in top 50% of HS class. Again... all of the Eastwood educators should be proud!

IMO, that's one of the more transitional streets in Eastwood, being closest to the railroad tracks. It has lots of examples of potential, and I didn't realize there were actually chickens being kept, though it doesn't surprise me.

As you go through the rest of Eastwood (all the way to Harby), you will find lots of examples, both good and bad, to photograph. Don't forget the church of the reedemer before they tear it down!

Welcome to the neighborhood.
