I have had all sorts of bird feeds and liked them all. In the end, however, grackles clean them out in a single day and poop all over the place. I hate grackels, they suck.

I have a couple of bird feeders and 90% of the birds that visit are grackles and doves. The rest are mockingbirds and sparrows, with the occasional red-winged blackbird. I also get hummers visiting my garden in the spring and fall.

I hate the grackles, too. Esp. after I saw one fly to my neighbor's rooftop with a baby bird and proceed to defeather and eat it. :-(.

I got squirrels and coons when I hung a feeder. After a few nights with the airsoft gun, the thrill was gone and I took it down.

And, in all seriousness, here's another product to deter squirrels: the Twirl-a-Squirrel. It's designed to start swirling the feeder around and the twirling goes so fast that the squirrels fall off:

Somehow I think my bayou squirrels would get some sick pleasure in both those rides and keep coming back. LOL.

When you properly adjust the weight on it, then you can prevent bigger birds from getting the seeds. Watch the video...
