I just don't want a mortgage because I don't want to be in that debt trap again. I guess I may have to reduce my 401K and ROTH contribution to help save more money for a House.

I don't have a car note (paid that off long ago like 2004ish?).
And you only make 75k a year? Poor baby. You probably rent one of those 14k/month places, right? You need to stop throwing your money away on rent & buy a house. Have you ever done the math? Because you sound horrible at money management.

I make a 1/3 of what you make. I'm a single, short, white, female, and your age. I pay off my credit card every month & put away a portion of my paycheck into my savings account every month anticipating I will need a new eventually, and I want to be able to pay cash again (bought my current one in 2008). I also put 10% into my 401k.

I had no idea everybody else makes so much more than me.

I agree, buy a house if you can. Even if you don't make a profit when you sell, you can still get some of your money back where as you will never see your rent money ever again.

No one's arguing with immature children, that's all.

You're doing all the right things girl Someone will be very happy to be with you When I got married my wife put all my finances in order. I was a MESS.
Moved out from the loft in Montrose, sold most of my sport cars (just one left), sold my boat and jetskys, bought a house and that was it. Best decisions of my life and it took someone's discipline. Being single was license to being frugal and a bit of a show off. We now live like we make 40K, very conservatively, and yet still enjoy the fine things in life. And don’t forget to give back, help family, donate to charities and church. We travel extensively, we own properties in Europe, Asia and South America and we’re really trying to maximize what we get out of our money rather than being wasteful and showoff. There are plenty of 30K millionaires to do that and I am sure we have some of those here from what I can see J

75k is not alot. keep looking out for the opportunities while saving and enjoying a bit.
i live in the cheap side of town, cheap house with old cars. peer pressure is low here obviously which helps the savings/retirement accounts. I think I own the ugliest daily driver here, so I may one upgrade soon
