Engineers and Designers easily make 6 figures in O&G if the economy is good. Piping Designers are among of the highest paid employees that doesnt require a college degree.

The biggest attribute in sales is the ability to communicate. If you have that, $100k+ is actually pretty easy.
What if you are 50 lbs overweight or are not very attractive? Then I bet it isn't.

working for the supermajors and not getting a bonus 2-3x your salary? clearly your boss didn't like you. should have compared with your coworkers and complained

So almost $42K per person?

contracting with the 2-3x pay with zero benefits, minimal politics works best in this environment (for me), especially since I'm not tall and white
What about 20+ years experience for I.T Managers? $250K Base?

I max out my 401K and ROTH IRA but I feel like I'm not making enough to be successful. I'm cheap. My only debts are student loans and I have a lease with an apartment. It seems really hard to acquire the american dream and owning a house. I don't want to have a mortgage but it seems impossible to buy a house (in the range of 80-110K) without taking a loan with my salary.
You are doing very well!

Good job on the 401K and Roth IRA.

You are blessed. Lot of the people on this planet are barely getting by right now.

You are Frugal like me, great.

'American Dream' of owning a home is not really dream for many Americans. Look at the all-time foreclosures rates. So many homes underwater. Unless you can pull off a decent gain on your primary home and/or you are so rich that it does not matter what value your house is then I don't think there is a any American Dream in this. For a lot of folks an American Dream is financial freedom.

You make almost $76K a year and cannot qualify for 80-110$ home? Are you kidding me? Even if you had bad credit, you'd still qualify today.

That's before overtime. I work 6-10 hours average OT, although sometimes when I get busy I might work 20-35 hours OT in a week.
What kind of work do you do?

Perhaps you need to review your budgeting or your expectations or both.

Edited to add: Oh yes, weren't you the one that said you like the Adult Entertainment Industry in that other thread? Yeah, that gets expensive!
You can live like a king in Houston if you make $75K a year with no debt and no one else to support.

According to this thread, there are so many high income earners and a few 6 figures.
