Hi,

Tonight I noticed that my water softener was not regenerating and the salt in the bin (salt pellets) have become extremely hard and some have developed a very mushy structure. I press the regenerate button and now it is regenerating. Will there be any problem with creating the soft water since the salt pellets have been lying in the bin for some time now and they are soo hard that I cannot move them with my hand.

No problem. Solid salt is water soluble. If it concerns you then break up the lumps with a hammer, they shatter easily.

@lucknow Wow! Thanks a lot for replying. I pure some hot water on it and now it seems to be fine.

One more question. I just pushed the regenerate button and now the water softner is regenerating. But I think the regeneration process is also going to run tonight at 2:00 am. Is that okay?

You should be fine. All it does it just cleans the filters one more time (regenerate), waste a little more salt and water. No big deal.
In a different note the salt pellets shouldn't become hard unless the system was off for a while so there was no movement. I would look into that issue first.

Mine runs for 2 hours at the time for each thank. Depends how big the system is. Don't worry, let it run, and you will be fine

Ok there is some problem because when I woke up this morning at 7:00 the system was still regen. I pulled the power plug and then after a while it stopped. Is there anyway to see if it was even working and also what it was doing all this time?

Default Just fyi...

I would recommend to use the natural salt crystals over the pelletized salt; the salt crystals dissolve easier, and they don't tend to harden up and create a bridge effect as do the pellets.
