In 1979 while living in Port Arthur, I drove to Houston to buy some upholstery fabric to cover the cushions on a couch my husband was making. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, or maybe things have changed, but as I remember it, there was a street with several upholstery fabric shops where there were some really good deals.

Anyone know what I'm talking about, and if so, is it still there?

Like many other businesses, those connected with fabric and upholstery have mostly been shipped out of our country (thanks a lot traitors / scumbag company "leaders"). You probably won't find an area or "row" like that any more.

I worked for one such company roughly 20 years ago, on Washington (Ave?), which is long gone. Maybe that is the street/area you are referring to. A lot can change in 32 years though (2011 minus 1979, when you visited last). I sure wish Houston looked like it did back in 1979...
