This is what I was told:

That the area I was thinking of was on Fondren near Westheimer and you can still get interior fabrics there as well as a newer store at that intersection called Best Fabrics. They also mentioned Glick's.

Glick's is gone. Best Fabrics is gone. High Fashion should be renamed High Prices. Gosh I miss my discount fabric stores. :-(

Here are a couple of places I will have to check out in Houston for discount fabric:

Welcome to Fabric Decor :: Most Discount Fabric | Outlet Fabric | Sale Fabric and Trim | Wholesale Fabric | Retail Fabric and More | We are a fabric store in Houston that provides most high end fabrics, designer fabrics, outlet fabrics, wholesale fab

Interior Fabrics Houston | Fabric Store in Houston Tx

Interior Fabrics North Houston | Designer Fabric Outlet In Houston TX

This next one appears to be more fabric for fashion, not decor, but what the heck!

Interior Fabrics' selection is good. Their prices are so/so...nothing like what Glick's used to be. Fabric Decor on Harwin is hit or miss (mainly miss for me). Anything current is going to be pricey, but their back room has $5 per yard fabric. Too bad most of it looks like its from the early 80's. It's my understanding that High Fashion bought Glick's and then shut them down. I miss JJ, Becky and the other friendly folks who worked there. I keep hoping someone will open up a new, TRUE DISCOUNT fabric store to fill the void.

It used to be a section of Fondren, south of Westheimer.
