We are still trying to find a good area for me to live in while my fiancé is it college. We've talked to numerous people and even drove to Plano to look at apartments- but they weren't all they were cracked up to be. I want to be able to feel safe at my apartment, because sometimes I do work late shifts at a restaurant and won't be home till 2 am so safety is a big issue.

Are their any reliable gated communities in Friendswood?
-They have to allow pets and not have a ridiculous $300 a month pet rental fee like I've seen at some apartments- I can't afford that. I have a small miniature Dachshund who's under 10 pounds.
-I'm looking for a two bedroom/ two bath for $900 and under or a 1 bed/ 1 bath for under $650.
-Must be in Friendswood area or close to the Baybrook Mall (within twenty minutes). Alvin maybe?

Have you looked at thee apartments behind Baybrook?

I stayed at "The Preserve" in Webster off Medical Center BLVD. It's gated (but honestly all gated apartments in our price range are a joke). Apartments were nice and didn't have a 300 pet deposit. I believe it was 150 plus 20/month.

Baybrook Mall is in Webster, but right across the freeway is Clear Lake. There's lots of apartments on Nasa Parkway, Bay Area Blvd and El Dorado Blvd.

If you choose Clear Lake, preferably stay east of Hwy 3. Nicer area, no shopping traffic, younger contingent. Zip code 77058.

We used to rent at Tranquility Lake, right next to Hidden Lakes apts in Webster. They are gated, but yeah gates really don't do much. Anyway, most of the complex is occupied by actual owners since it has gone condo. A few of the units are rented out by the individual owners, and they fit your price range. Overall the neighborhood was pretty good since most everyone living there actually owned the place where they lived. They allow pets, but price probably varies with the owner. On July 4th, you can walk to the lake at the back of the complex and see the fireworks show from Nassau Bay. Definitely 77058 is the way to go. You won't find anything that fits your criteria in Alvin.

tstone is right - do not rent on El Dorado between 45 and Highway 3.

Here are the areas I would look in. I haven't looked into pet deposits.

- Skyhawk Apartments
- The Gardens at Challenger Park - Webster Apartments| Apartments in Webster, TX | Gardens At Challenger Park
- Wedgewood Village Apartments - http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate...lage-Apts.html
Look up homes for rent on har.com in these neighborhoods:
- Forest Bend
- Wedgewood Village
- Heritage Park

The areas are safe. I don't know if you will find the price you want, but it might be close. Good luck!

I used to live out there. The section of Heritage park just north of Bay Area Blvd is a little rough, but the rest of the neighborhood is decent. Wedgewood is decent too. Forest Bend is downright rough and almost trashy. Unkept lawns, junkyard dogs loose, drug deals, teenage girls running trains out of her window, etc. The few people I know who lived there got the hell out. If you like a small town feel, old Friendswood is very safe & nice (old oil money).
