I'm surprised nobody took it upon themselves to just shoot the damn cameras or the flash. I've heard of people who took paintball guns to the lights in other cities. figure gun laws are so lax in TX, someone might as well get annoyed, they'll use them for target practice or something.

Actually, although I am somewhat surprised I am encouraged. It shows that the camera opponents are not the law breakers the pro camera people claim we are. We are willing to work within the law and the system to affect the change needed. Besides, I bet if it were happening they wouldn't publish anything about it. Here is a great article that came out that sums up the issue.

"In 2008, the city was caught shortening the timing of yellow lights in order to gin up more citations"

"But the fig leaf of safety frittered away as study after study showed that the cameras made little difference and in some cases actually made intersections less safe. Drivers, knowing cameras were watching, tended to jam on their brakes suddenly at yellow lights, causing accidents. Further research showed that there was a way to make intersections safer: Simply lengthen the duration of amber lights, allowing drivers more time to make the critical decision to stop or go"

Why not post the entire source so that we know which city your post refers to. Is this Baytown that the article is talking about?

Post data showing that Houston has done this.

Research Supports Red-Light Cameras | NBC Dallas-Fort Worth

You can find out how the yellow light timing is determined from the information in this link Traffic Planning Publications - TMUTCD

Also you can find out more from this link Red Light Cameras on State Highways (http://www.txdot.gov/safety/red_light_cameras.htm - broken link)

His quote was about San Bernadino, the link was already posted by me above from the weekly standard. Houston has had several illegally short yellow lights at camera locations, I can personally affirm that, I have timed them myself. Here is a link for the short yellows in Houston from the past. When the petition to get the issue on the ballot was going around COH went out and raised the YCI to avoid it being an issue in the election. This also contributed to a reduction in accidents and violations that they contributed to the cameras.

Don't waste your time on TVC15. He is a non believer. No matter how much proof you demonstrate he is still going to have some kind of come back. There is really no hope for this guy...

Oh I know, I said a long time ago I wasn't posting for him anymore. I just like posting the things he says don't exist.

For anyone that is interested. Here is an example of how low this camera company will go and just how well these tickets are reviewed by police officers. The news segment about the funeral procession with police escorts that got ticketed is now online. ATS refused to dismiss the tickets until the media got involved.
