Just curious if there are any restaurants or cafes along buffalo bayou that take advantage of the water for the atmosphere. I'm thinking of something somewhere between the Riverwalk in San Antonio and The County Line in Austin for anybody familiar. Other than the Spaghetti Warehouse, are there any restaurants/cafes like this in Houston, with tables set up outdoors along the water?

Nothing from Downtown to 610 now you can check out Eleanor Tinsley Park about 1/3 mile west of 45 on Allen Parkway

This is about 5 minutes from Houston city limits on the SE side:

Kemah Boardwalk - The Fun Never Stops!

And there are a few more (less commercialized) on the bay further south.

CLIFTON'S SEASIDE DINER

EDIT : oops just read buffalo bayou, bad reading comprehension sorry...

Mostly no, I guess people are afraid the bayou might smell. There was one just east of Memorial Park that I think is now Brenners steak house, used to be the Rainbow Lodge.

No tables outside but Bradys Landing has big picture windows and pretty good food. The San Jacinto Inn is up on the second story and overlooks the confluence of the San Jacinto River with Buffalo Bayou aka Houston Ship Channel. Food is kind of inconsistent sometimes really good, sometimes just average.

Not to derail - but what is going to happen at th old Las Almedas restaurant at I-10 and Voss? It faces the bayou in the back.

Is Brenner's on the Bayou closed now? I think that was the location of the old Rainbow Lodge. That would be the only place I know of on the bayou. But I've never actually been so don't know if they have tables outside.

These aren't the bayou, but not too far: West Lake Houston.

If you want some alternative (not along the bayou or Gulf) waterside dining in the Houston area:
