That would be a good hour each way. Clear Lake is a nice area so you would be better off just living down there.

I concur, Clear Lake is a very nice area. You really should consider staying in the area. Do not commute from Kingwood to Clear Lake.

KyleV, I'll give you an opinion that stems from BOTH sides of your Kingwood/The Woodlands equation. I grew up in the Champions area of Spring. My husband grew up in Kingwood. About 12 years ago, we got married and built a house in The Woodlands. His dad still lives in Kingwood, as did most of his friends from high school (until recently,) so we go back to Kingwood occasionally to visit them. Hands down, we LOVE The Woodlands, and, after spending more time at our place, many of his friends have moved and are moving from Kingwood into The Woodlands.

Yes, the homes are more expensive here (for similar square footage in Kingwood,) but there's a reason for that. Just drive down Woodlands Parkway, then drive down Kingwood Drive, and I promise you, you'll feel the difference. Remember, my husband grew up in Kingwood and he and his siblings graduated from Kingwood HS. After visiting his father the other night, my husband joked on the way home saying, "ewww, let's get out of here - yes, I'm a Woodlands snob!" He said it's simply not "aging well." That cannot be said for most of The Woodlands.

As for diversity, amongst the caucasians on our street, we have representation from many cultures: Asian, Mid-eastern, African American, Hispanic - just on our street. They are all professionals: physicians, attorneys, oil & gas execs, corporate execs. And, FYI, a large percentage of our neighbors have moved into The Woodlands from out of state.

59 > 45

And it's not even close. 59 has barely any traffic in rush hour. 45 is a parking lot in a few places.
