You know, I may be from Colorado, but the whole Polar Bear club idea just never appealed to me.

When does it get warm enough? Try weather.com, it actually tells you the averages for every month by zip or city.

I swim outdoors year round for fitness. Not my own pool, but a heated competition sized pool. If you are active in the water, 80 degrees is generally viewed as a good temperature. Below 75 degrees and most people find the water saps too much heat and you will always feel cold. Very few people can exercise in water above 85 for very long. They will overheat.

I would guess the typical backyard pool right now is in the 55 degree range. That is so cold that you would jump in and jump right back out because it was WAY too cold.

When mom and dad say it's ok, and fifteen minutes after you eat a three course meal.

Default Wet suit.

My husband swims for therapy reasons (tendonitis.)

We do not heat the pool (we are too frugal for that) but he uses a 3mm wet suit and booties, which allows him to swim pretty much all but Dec and February.

Our community pool is not heated, but when we asked, we were told the swim team does still use it in winter and simply uses wetsuits.

So we went and bought one too. Works fine!

go to webster. there is an indoor pool that is heated and is open all year round. $5 a person.

you can start using your pool pretty soon I think. whenever you get a day that is around 80 degrees you should be fine.
