Decided to make an official thread for this in the Houston section dedicated just for this. Personally I like Outlet Malls, and we have yet another new one coming into our market area.

An excerpt:

TEXAS CITY — Major mall operator Simon Property Group said it plans to build a 350,000-square-foot outlet center at Interstate 45, south of Holland Road, delivering some of the biggest retail news Texas City has had in decades.

Any thoughts?

Love Outlet Malls but in most cases they are not any less expensive just have more sales. Though I guess some stores are but not many.

Good for Galveston County, might move sales away from Baybrook mall though.

Nah, Baybrook is too big. It's going to really hurt what's left of Mall of the Mainland though, unless they redevelop that mall.

Scarface713, you are exactly right. The only real remaining major stores left are Macy's, Sears, and Palais Royal. The inside of the mall is basically vacant. It has seen way better days for a mall only about 22-23 years old. That is a relatively young mall.

It will be just like the one out in Fairfield which sucks all clothes stores & no covered roof to shade from the rain or heat

The one in LaMarque is just like the one in Conroe. It's time to tear down the one in Conroe and build something better.

Anyone remember the outlet malls in Sealy and Livingston(or was it Cleveland?)?

MOM is beyond saving anyway.

Galveston County is a retail pit in general. My thinking is similar to TXMick's here.
