3327 Brinmont Place Lane, Katy, TX 77494. I saw it backs to a parkway with no sound barrier, but I can't tell why it has dropped 20% in price...What's up with that?

I bet the freeway noise is awful. Our old house was about a mile from the freeway and we could hear the constant drone from the freeway from inside the house.

That's funny. Housing prices in that area were increasing right along with gas prices as they went to $4/gal. Maybe you are just an urban elitist snob? Much more likely.

To the OP, the noise from the highway is a big deterrent. Most people don't want that when there are plenty of similar houses w/o that issue.

The neighborhood itself is NOT in a bad location - but that particular house (and all houses on that street) backs up to 99 and you will hear nothing but traffic 24/7 in your backyard and possibly even in the house.

Another huge issue is that it is a short sale and it will take 4 months to close on this particular house/lender. Buyers, even if they didn't mind the big traffic noise (?), don't want to wait this long. It's not cheap enough for investors, who are usually the ones to buy short sales. Investors aren't going to buy a problem house (noise) unless it is dirt cheap. It's caught there and will most likely foreclose. The price now listed is the final rock-bottom that the lender will supposedly settle for. The listing agent most likely made the price drop when he got the approved price. The individual seller couldn't care less what it finally sells for - as long as he is off the hook.

I can't imagine buying a house for $250K with the noise problem.
