The article below lists the 25 most violent neighborhoods in the USA. All neighborhoods are in large cities. Houston did not make the list.

However, look at #21. Its an area in Galveston. This totally surprised me.

Hmmm that appears to be mapping the Strand district. I tend to avoid Galveston, but I enjoy visiting the Strand. Now if the map bubble went around the area just West, South, or East of the Strand, then yeah I would agree.

I hate statistics. Whoda thunk Atlanta would have 4 areas and DC only one?

Well, not *all* are large cities. Chattenooga, TN only has a population of 180,000 or so. That is the size of many suburbs here. If you count their metro area, it goes to 500,000 or so. The other factor in Chattenooga is that there is a large population of college students at the University of Tennessee. I'm not sure if the college kids are counted in the population, but there are some 100,000 of them.

Well the biggest thing I see is that the map is drawn around an ice cream shop, a Starbucks, the Treemont hotel, the Grand Opera House, tons of restaurants, shops, etc. So if the most dangerous part of Galveston is the tourist district, then Galveston truly has problems. If you flip the green block on the map over to the left, then yeah I would agree about the dangerous part.

You are bound to get major cities because of high population.
