Museum District Day : 17 museums + 7 hours = $0 | Houston Art

Master strategists can visit 17 museums for free 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept.25 during the 14th Annual
Museum District Day.

Free bus shuttles will help visitors maneuver the museum district, which will be rocking with music and activities for all ages inside and outside the venues.

Participating sites include Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, Byzantine Fresco Chapel, Children’s Museum of Houston, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Czech Center Museum Houston, the Health Museum, Holocaust Museum Houston, Houston Center of Contemporary Craft, Houston Center for Photography, Houston Museum of Natural Science, the John C. Freeman Weather Museum, the Jung Center, Lawndale Art Center, the Menil Collection, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Rice University Art Gallery and Rothko Chapel.

To avoid traffic jams take Metro rail to the Museum District, centered around Mecom Fountain at Montrose and Main.

Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out whether Metrorail goes anywhere near the Menil Collection. I don't think so?

It would if the new lines were built. I'd recommend driving, or if your adventurous you can take Metro rail-> Wheeler Station -> Bus 25 eastbound -> get off at Mandel St.
