I have a friend whos been a part of college ministry for years and she is looking for a church that is very involved in overseas missions/global ministry. She really wants to find a church she can be a part of and find a ministry she can grow and develop in. She actually just left a church...and she is having a very difficult time finding a church that is open and welcoming to her. She is not looking for sponsorships...as she has her own money to pay for missions and wouldn't ask for a dime from anyone.

She is looking for a church that is modern...diverse group of people that doesnt believe in segregation...but traditional in the sense that is very bible based and believes in the spiritual growth of its members and not just numbers to fill the pews.

She is young so she would prefer a church that is very active in the community...with lots of activities and things to do...

Every Mormon church building in Houston is home to a congregation that has missionaries overseas. This is not an endorsement, just a statement of fact.

Are you Mormon? Yes I know the Mormon church is very dedicated to doing outreach. Did you participate in missions?

I would love to hear more! My friend is not Mormon however. A church that is non-denominational preferrably...but I think Baptist and Pentacostal are fine since that is her background...

No. "Outreach"? It's not outreach. It's straight up proselyting, door-to-door, get the converts, proselyting. Again, I don't endorse any religion.

Lol...she is not looking for a church that has creative ways of putting money in their pockets...she is sincere. I dont know anything about the Mormon Church so I will refrain from making any type of judgement.

That's not what proselytizing means...

Ohh, I know. Perhaps I should have separated the two issues so I wouldn't be misquoted. There are many churches that are involved in global ministry that engage in proselytizing for the wrong reasons. I am not referring to any particular denominations either...

Just curious, but what are the right reasons for engaging in overseas proselytizing?

I think we strayed from the topic.

Sugar Creek in Sugar Land does. Mostly in Africa, former Soviet countries, and central America I believe.
