We just bought a home and ripped down wallpaper in the kitchen. We have white cabinets and dark green countertops both of which i hate but they are completely functional. We'll eventually update them but who knows when.
I need to choose a paint color for the kitchen but am having a hard time finding much that goes w/ these green cabinets. I don't want a dark color because that darkens the kitchen and makes it look smaller. But I also don't want a blah or boring color. I tried that sherwin williams visualizer, but still can't decide.

Any ideas?

Need help on choosing color for kitchen walls-kitchen.bmp

A chartreuse/apple green can actually work well with the dark green. Maybe that on most of the walls, but a white that matches the cabinets under the breakfast bar.

Sheenie, I vote for taupe - it will go great with the green countertops and will make the white cabinets look better

At first I was thinking a VERY light green, almost like mint, but then I saw that you had the green countertops and agree that a taupe would probably be best.

Something gray-ish. Doesn't sound so great, but if you notice a lot of the current trends in colors have a gray slant. Get lots and lots of chips and hold them up. I def. would do a neutral leaning towards a warm gray and avoid anything that is a specific color.

I think Valspar's Taupe Stone might be a nice option. It's light, a gray with a touch of taupe in it.

We have Emerald pearl granite countertop (very dark green) with toffee color cabinet and yellow tone glass tile backsplash. We use benjamin moore rosemary sprig in family, dining and kitchen which are opened to each other. However, we do not have many walls need to paint in kitchen as 2 walls are cabinet to the ceiling and the other 2 are opened to ding and family room. If your kitchen is bright, rosemary sprig is very nice color. If it's dark even in day time, you can go with lighter color.

I was thinking yellow or green. I don't like the taupe color. It's too dark and blah. The darker color I think will make the room look smaller.
Once I took down the wallpaper, it looks so much brighter in the kitchen now. So I'd rather have a brighter/lighter color.
