Be sure and put some sort of heating device inside your well shelter. We use a single 150-watt floodlight and the shelter itself is insulated.

If you ever up grade your system, go with an underground pressure tank, with a submersible pump, you just have one water line coming into the house. Just like city water. This is all you would have, without the hydrant.
