Just saw an infomercial on this and thinking about replacing my old electric trimmer and edger. It is a pain pulling extension cords. I like the combo of this device. Anyone have this? If so, is it durable, powerful? How long will the batteries last and is it rechargeable? Thanks.
My wife got me one. I don't mess with the edger, haven't quite figured it out. Battery lasts about 45 minutes or so, which isn't a problem as my yard is fairly small.
An infomercial? You are kidding right? No one buys anything from those lying coniving clowns on TV. They are just gimmics and frauds.
I seen a cordless lawn mower in a store. Now how long can any standard battery run that thing?
We rely so heavy on cordless tools so I know their weaknesses and strengths. We beat the pulp from our cordless tools but it is always on and off one use at a time. To run a continuous tool like that item under such strain would kill it in very short order.
Save your money. It's a scam. Dont believe anything on any TV commercial.
My wife saw one on QVC and almost ordered it but I told her not to waste the money. I don't use a trimmer often and only edge maybe once a month. When I edge, our corded 12 amp edger strains to get through some of our overgrowth and it typically takes me over half an hour. A cordless tool working that hard would drain its charge quicker. Sort of like the difference between using a cordless drill for drilling 1/8" pilot holes with a regular bit and a 1" spade or forstner bit. It'll last a lot longer drilling those little pilot holes.
As just a trimmer it would probably be fine, regular grass trimming isn't very intensive and doesn't take long to do. As an edger I'd be skeptical of how well it would work and how long it would last.
In short, I agree with DS41. I'd just be wary of any cordless tool that would be used in long continuous hi torque scenarios.
