What is the difference b/w a Hugger Mount fan and a Dual Mount fan, both fans I am looking at come with a "light kit" I just don't know what the Dual Mount does that the hugger does not for the $25.00 price difference.

Is this a hunter fan?If so, the hunter fans come with a short downrod and also a bracket that allows installation w/o the downrod; making it a hugger fan. That is what hunter calls a dual-mount. I assume its the same w/ other manufacturers. As for dual mount light kits; they can be attached to a ceiling fan, or independent of the fan directly to the ceiling as a stand-alone light fixture.

I believe the dual mount refers to 2 ways to hang it. You can choose the hugger or hang it with a downrod to give some clearance from the ceiling. All the dual mounts I have seen, no matter the brand, have the option to make it a hugger or a downrod.
My 2 cents, the downrod is better. It gives the fan more space to move more air in a room. if the ceiling height allows it, hang a fan with the downrod.

I just bought the Hugger fan as I did not think there was enough clearance to use a downrod as I am over 6 foot tall, and did not want to come hear my head. LOL

6'5" here. No light fixtures on any fan in my house. My in-laws are short and I constantly hit my head on the lights under their fans. Hate it.

There are surely applications for the hugger fans, but I find that the downrod installation is much more functional. You need the blades to be a certain distance from the ceiling to get proper air movement.
