My white porcelain kitchen sink is stained and looks horrible. I've used cleansers, but still has that dingy coffee stained look. Any suggestions besides buying a new sink? Thanks.

Chances are your sink is scratched due to the cleansers you have been using. These very fine scratches will hold dirt and stains and dull the finish of your sink. You can use a Mr. Clean Magic sponge for a quick wipe down but you may have to use a bleach solution regularly to keep your sink looking white. You can mist it with a bleach solution or fill the sink with water and add a bit of bleach. Either way, stop the scrubbing...it's only making the problem worse.

Try Barkeeper's Friend. It is a powered cleanser that is non-abrasive (I sound like an ad ). It works GREAT on porcelain sinks. I had one and it was the only thing that really did the job.

There is a product by Revereware for scrubbing the bottoms of copper bottom pots....it is a small tub of paste. A friend years ago suggested this to me as a cleaner for a white porcelain sink....and let me tell you it kept my sink looking brand spanking new for years! It's about 4-5 bucks and I got it at the Revere/Corning outlet. Good luck to you!

I have only used Soft Scrub with bleach on mine... and it looks brand new.

I agree that yours might be damaged by the cleansers.

Bingo! That's how we cleaned our porcelain sink. No scrubbing, no harsh abrasives- just fill up with water, add bleach and let sit for a few hours. Drain and presto! Clean sink.
