I recently purchased a steel frame home. I am currently trying to mount a microwave above the oven but there are no studs. (Drilling takes me to metal) The builder said that we would have to remove the drywall put in some wood and replace the drywall. Is this the only Solution? Please advise

There should be studs, however, they will likely be steel. You can use self tapping screws made for metal. They have a little drill bit tip on them, so they go into the steel studs easily. They come in a variety of sizes.
