I've read numerous posts about cleaning travertine showers with blue Dawn. However, I've never done it. Can someone tell me exactly what to do? Should I dilute it and scrub? Use it straight? What scrubber is safe? I've never had travertine before, so I don't want to hurt it. I won't even hint at how long I've lived with it without properly cleaning it... I'd love any of your hints!

I would dilute the dawn in a bucket of water and then sponge the tiles down with the mixture. Hopefully you have a handheld shower and spray down the walls. I wouldn't scrub the tiles as you may damage the stone. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I don't have a removable shower head... I guess a bucket and cloth will have to do. And thanks for the tip on not scrubbing. Somedays, I miss good old indestructible ceramic tile!

Use a very soft cloth or one of those insanely soft brushes they make for washing your car (almost as soft as a feather duster). The point is to get the soap into the crevices not to really scrub at it.
