Holy Lord, the perfect combination of cool/scary. I'd get the opinion of a contractor who speciualizes in restoration, and knows about local codes, etc. A few thousand dollars to a guy like this whould be well worth it before you start going at it yourself, and making expensive mistakes.

Default Yes

We are trying to get a licensed commercial plumber in to do the estimates as that is about the only thing we will add is plumbing.

There is already electricity.

You hit scary on the head-- there is a teen center downstairs and the lady who runs it occasionally cleans upstairs for us and she swears there are ghosts! I just like to think the building makes a lot of noises.

Honestly, the place is a little creepy at night.

We really are not changing anything structurally and there has actually been an apartment behind the other retail section for years it just isn't used now.

I know that is not what you meant but.... the city does have an inspector and I am sure that if we worked with them we could deal with the code issues.
