The answer to the question is yes there are crawl space dehumidifiers that work and are designed for the crawl space. It is required that the crawl space be a "closed crawl space". Most often in a sealed crawl space the temperature will not drop below 60ºF due to the geothermal benefits of the surface area of the ground. Dehumidification is not necessary below 50ºF, mostly because the actual amount of moisture in the air is no threat to your home. As a reference take a look at this article crawlspacescience.com
