About 5 years ago, I had a light colored bamboo flooring installed in my hallways and living room. I have noticed that several areas of the flooring have turned a black color. The flooring itself does not show any wear, it is kept real clean. It was glued directly onto the concrete sub floor.

Anyone know what is going on?

Well, a moisture meter would tell you for sure; but if I had to guess I'd say moisture is being absorbed by the wood through the slab.

Well, living in Florida and a block away from the river, that may be the case. Interestingly, my neigbor's house is also on a slab, right on the ground, her entire home seems to be wicking, the concrete is badly cracked and the wall board tape in the corners of her house is just rolling off the walls.

My floor is built up about 16" off the ground, I don't know if it is all concrete under there or an empty shell. I have had no wicking or dampness issues, I will find one of those moisture meters, see what I can figure out.

Thanks
