Does anyone have any tips for getting wasps out of a garage? I don't believe there is a nest in there, as I've only seen 2 so far, but since wasps terrify me to death, I want 'em out (and can't go back in there until they are gone). I can't spray or swat them, because there is a lot of junk in the garage which makes it difficult to find them or move around. Would something like a bug zapper work on wasps?

Any ideas are mucho appreciated.

They may be mud daubers, which are wasps but not very agressive. Look for the tubular nests, which are made of mud that hardens like concrete. I just knock the nests down and ignore the daubers. They eat spiders, by the way.

Hornets and paper wasps, on the other hand, are nasty and very territorial. This article shows what the nests look like and how to deal with them if they are nesting too close for comfort.

Edited to add: for bugs in the house, I just use the vacuum cleaner with the extension wand. If they land you can creep up on them and suck 'em up.

The stuff in the garage makes a wonderful habitat for mud daubers, because it's dry in there and the boxes give plenty of space for the spiders they feed on to live in. Clean out the garage and you'll take away their habitat.

If you want to get WASPs out of your garage, serve chilled martinis in the back yard.

I wonder if a room spray would work. The kind of spray that kills insects by closing off a room, opening a can, let it spray for awhile, and you don't return to the room for a few hours. I'd remove vehicles and a few other things, but you wouldn't have to clean out the garage or hunt for the nest.

They seemed to have left on their own. Weird.
