I have heard the 2001-04 Ody's had some major issues with the transmissions. Does anyone know for sure that the later models like 08' are okay ?
I am interested in buying the 08' ody EX-L with 35k miles on it.
Any opinions/recalls/issues I need to worry about ?
The transmission issues were mostly cleared up by 2005, making that year a bit of a hit or miss. From 2006 on, there are no major issues with the Odyssey's.
We own a 07 Odyssey bought new with about 60k on it now. Used on on short and long hauls....no problems whatsoever with tranmission or other major issues. It handles well in the climate where I live which ranges from -30F to +90F...in rain, freezing rain and snow.
Do the usual maintenance... there have been some minor recalls fixed.
Our experience with our odyssey is great. Our neighbor got an 07 Touring model and havent any problems either.

Another vote for a Honda Ody. They are great vans. BTW, I love my mini van too! Dodge GC.
I just would say change all the fluids every 30K if you plan on keeping over 100K, I really think that makes a huge difference in all vehicles. It is expensive but worth in, BTW all fluids every 30K but engine oil every 4K or so.
I have a 2008 and have never done anything but maintenance. Most have had recall for flashing the computer on tranmisdsio lockup and for soft brake pedal fix. its free and I never had any problems but had it done.Alkso honda has three year brake fluid flush which is good idea on any vehicle really.
