Turquoise is the color for 2010 but also colors of fuits like pomegranate, plum and just about any bold color. Sage is always a good color but was more popular 2007-2009.
how do you know that? Do they publish this info somewhere?
I'm relieved because I did paint my house in pretty bold colors in some places and I hope it stays "in style" for a while. Personally I'm over reds and greens, btdt. But they do still look good whenever people use them!
I think that the sage thats in style now is more of an avocado/leafy color than that dusty thyme color.
I agree that the purer tones like turquoise, coral, lemon, leaf green, and orange and the ones mentioned are making a return. Paired with light neutrals, grey or sand and black or chocolate.
Dark red and dusty olive and camel reads as the last trend, but is classic combo still,I think. Just not as fresh.
hart4july:
I have paint samples up, but sage looks anywhere from a beige to a green, is this so?
so...
I want to accent the neutral walls I will be painting with fresh colors.
I am glad to see turquoise, as I was looking for new window treatment for sheers I just bought for my dining room, I found fabric that has the colors to match. Guess what the accent color was-a turquoise! I found a vase(very tall and narrow) I had in the hallway in the corner to match that my very young child gave me for xmas one year. It doesn't look that bad! very surprised -- was sitting here staring at my finds yesterday!!!
I will be putting the vase on an old (very decorative) table my grandfather made and a short chair from my mom, that is so short, it seems more for a child. She did needlework for the seat. I have figure out what else to add to the table, need less height items.
wrong forum, but:: on the wall opposite this window treatment will be a collage of black frames (8x10) with 4 to 7 black/white pictures in them I put together for this room. Would you accent this wall with any turquoise? what? (My buffet will be sitting under it.)
thanks!!!!!!!

hi,
that good that plum and pomegranate are colors to be in, as I finally painted our master bedroom in that color!! It more plum. and put in rich golds and greens for bedding and accents. My husband loves it as it calm and romantic. I used a paint technique on part of the walls, and made it look different instead of just blah paint.
Just because Pantone picks a color doesn't mean it is 'the' color of the year. It is just an advertising gimmick for Pantone.
Trends in interior design span much longer than just one year. If trends changed every year, design projects would never get built before they had to be redesigned!
I wouldn't necessarily disregard Pantone as totally irrelevant, but I would use the color forecasts from Sherwin Williams and Ultron before I would use Pantone's.
