Just finishing building our new home. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations on blind companies. We're looking at getting the faux wood blinds for the whole house. Any reviews? Thanks.
Actually, we just went to LOWES, paid $35 and they came and measured our entire house, every window, it was a GREAT deal. We have like 40+ windows in our house, so it was worth it... They even went over ideas at the house about mounting options, etc. The guy's name was Fred Brown I think that came to the house, VERY nice fellow.
Anyhow, we went back to Lowes once he took down the measurements and picked out some blinds from a catalog and some that were in stock. We paid $12 for each blind to be installed, it was a really good deal and from a reputable company, cant complain...
Might want to check them out! We never knew they came to the house and did all that for $35!!
Is that the fee for each blind to be installed? How much was each blind?
well, we had a little unique situation, so we decided to pay to have them installed. Each blind was around $90 or so, but we did real wood with upgraded valances, etc. We went with BALI....
Two of our spare bedrooms we went with the wood faux blinds and they were also $30 or something like that... the wife did the shopping!
We went to Lowes, too. And that's basically what we paid for each blind. Some were more expensive as they had to cover bigger windows. But that's what I recall being the price for the standard size window.
As far as installation goes, I installed them myself. It's *VERY* easy and takes about 10 min/blind. At $12 per blind, that's $72/hour that I didn't have to pay. That's a TON more than I get paid at work! By doing the job myself, and not paying out $72/hour, I effectively paid myself the $72/hour. Took about 3.5 hours for the whole house and saved $252! And I am *NOT* mr handyman. If you read and know how to use a drill and a screwdriver you can do this job yourself. The first time will take longer. By the 3rd or 4th you'll be crusing right along.
But for a standard faux wood blind at Lowes if you want them to cut to your measurments in the store they only offer a pure white blind.Home Depot prices are the same but i found their color of an off white to be more to my liking.Either store has good prices.
I cheated and had the builder do them as an upgrade. Would it have been cheaper to do it myself? Yes, of course but I only got ripped for about $200 and it will be one less thing to have to worry about and do after we move. I figured we would have our hands full as it was and at least it will be one thing off the checklist from day one. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!
Thanks for the help. It seems like Lowes is the place to go. My husband claims he can install them, and he is NOT a handyman. Glad to hear that it is not that difficult. Thanks again.
