Someone recently broke into my house and used black spray paint and painted in one of the rooms. Does anyone know if this can be covered with regular paint or if I should hire professional painters?

You can do it yourself - you'll need a good quality primer and likely need 2 coats to cover. Speak to someone in a paint store for recommendations on primer.

Yes, I also just used a paint from Lowe's called something like "quick cover" - it is from Olympic and comes in white and off-white and was about $8 a gallon. Primers are made for just your purpose. By the way, sorry that happened - it must have been very upsetting.
