cattk is right. the other thing to consider with design/decorating it is a "fluid" art. with each project your design ideas can't be rigid or already set in place. you have to go go with the flow. many times what you want doesn't come in your color, or it is too big or small to fir the space. the fabric is out of stock or the vendor won't put it on the style of chair you want. then there is the surprise factor when you are on the hunt. you stumble into a great item, you weren't looking for it nor did you expect it and you have to have it, that changes up your whole thought process. always keep your eyes open and be willing to be fluid and you will get a great room

Yes you guys are right, I won't buy anything else till I receive the sofa and futon and visualize the place. Yes, I bought the purple futon not the grey one coz that one was sold out, well if it doesnt go with red like you said, I can always move it to a different room. I just thought it was a good deal for a futon/bed at the price they were selling it for!

That's not really a futon, why are they calling it that? It's just a convertible couch.

As for red and purple, those colors together always make me think of bruises and black eyes. You would have to be very careful how to work with them, I would think. Not an easy combo, unless the purple is very deep and dark. Then you can mix lots of burgundies, reds, purples in your pillows, rug, window treatments, etc. - but if it's a medium or bright purple, ick (with red). I have a strong feeling that futon will be going in another room. They just don't go together, not just in color but also style.

You sure are an impulse buyer. I plan and plan and research up the wazoo at least in terms of what style and color scheme I want, before I buy furniture.

Grew up in a house a red leather couch. The living room had pea green walls, warm wood floors, curtains geometric (1950's) black, green with touch of yellow and red. Very stylish!

leather sofa furniture gets your home very good look and feel, you don't have to be rich to enjoy leather furniture. Because leather wears in and fabric wears out, you'll find that leather lasts much longer than fabric and can be a better value.
