I was all set to paint my dining room gold -- "Autumn Moon" until my DD pointed out that our hardwood floors are pretty much that same shade.

Would this look terrible? Anyone have photos of similar wall and hardwood floor colors?

Sounds very yucky, sorry.

How about a photo of the room.

We accidentally ended up doing something similar. Our office is Behr "Peanut Butter". It is extremely similar to the color of the wood trim. Luckily we have carpet so there's contrast there, but it doesn't look great at all.

Imo, the only color that might pull it off is white: I have seen pics of a beach-themed house where the hardwood floors were patina-like white and the walls were white as well. It was beautiful, but it was the only one I have ever seen.

When your room is furnished with an area rug, drapes, art, furniture - you are not going to notice how similar your floor color and walls are - besides - your floors are wood - woods are generally considered a neutral and not the same as a solid color paint. Frame your art in dark frames and have dark wood furniture for a contrast - really liven things up with your textiles - a large area rug, drapes, table runner or cloth. Your accessories can add color and contrast as well. Add some sparkle with a chandelier. A large area rug will not only add pattern and color but will minimize the amount of visable floor space. Your room has the possibility of looking beautifuly with gold paint - by the way I love the Laura Ashely Golds - they are beautiful.

I think it has the potential for a gorgeous room. With the accessories mentioned by Cattknap, it will be a total contrast to what you are picturing in your mind. I say Go For It.
I personally love the array of gold on walls, it seems to put a glow into the room that says, "Home Sweet Home"

I have "golden cricket" walls, white trim, and mohogany wood floors.

I've gotten a lot of compliments on the walls and room as a whole. FLoors look great as well imo, but I wouldn't go with anything more golden. PERSONALLY though, I want to go with a black or very dark dark blue/black for trim. I think it would make it look richer, more unique, and (I almost want to say kitschy-trendy)

Lighting is a bit dark, now have dark grey curtains and more black furniture, not finished with the decorating. It looks more gold in real life. Also ignore the mess

found this pic for you to give you a general idea of light gold walls, white trim and the light wood flooring. It goes well together, then with added decor and accessories, I think it will look stunning!

Keep in mind that while some colors are well tolerated by most folks, gold isn't one of them. For every person that thinks your gold walls are lovely, there will probably be one person that shudders. I'm one of those and I know that there are many more that don't like gold, mustard, yellow or anything similar on the walls. Gold is great as an accent color. But a little goes a long way.

I agree, those gold walls look awful IMO. Though it's your house, do what you like.
