I unfortunately don't have a picture but here's the deal--White and tan tile (tan isn't very evident so it looks white..) Large dark oak table, white shutters on window. The dining room is not small, but not big, also it's attached to the kitchen which is all white..There is no other decor yet as we are just moving in--Im looking for a warm color--not blue or green, and nothing in the brown family as that's our choice for living room.. Any suggestions would be helpful!
Hmm the OP's kitchen sounds like mine when I first moved in. I painted my walls navy blue and left the trim white, and it looks beautiful with the oak cabinets. They're original and look pretty nice, and the room has an antique oak sideboard and table as well. The warm yellow tones of the oak mix well with the dark blue.
If you want to go warm, consider that the undertone of your oak is probably golden... I really think the best color to complement oak is something in the blue family, but if you really dislike blues, then would you consider...

Yellow! It is a wonderful, cheerful, happy color. I love those Gingham curtains too! You could put a centerpiece of fake lemons on the table and white placemats with big yellow daisys on them. How cool would that be?
