I just read on NHL.com that Avery is suspended for 6 games and will take anger management classes
maybe next time he'll think before he says something
but this is still funny
I believe the Dec. 16 game is the first one he will be eligible to play in. Tippet made some comments the other day about this and from the sound of it............. don't know if they are going to let him come back or not. The team that is. It will be interesting to see what happens by then. At the recent Stars Foundation Luncheon that Ralph & Razor emcee Avery was SUPPOSED to be interviewed by them. Now, R&R don't ask your normal questions at these things. Most are not even related to ANYTHING that happens on the ice. For some reason when it was time for Avery and another player to come on stage Avery was nowhere to be seen. He had left his table like the other guys did when it was his time to go get hooked up to the mic but he wasn't on the stage. Now I'm wondering if Tippet, Hull or someone had something done to keep him from being up there. ?????
Avery is getting treated so harshly over this because he went out of his way to find a media person who was interviewing someone else so that he could make his comments. The comments themselves were bad enough, but when you're sitting by yourself and you go looking for a mic to start some trouble, I'd say the reaction has been more than appropriate.
The shame of it all is that Avery is not a bad hockey player and he has all but ruined his career with this sheer stupidity.
Now he's going to have to leave the Stars. How lame. It's Sean Avery. It's what he does. The whole thing is an overreaction.
Possibly, but ya know what? In this day & age where society - and the media in particular - are always looking to crack on someone, you gotta be smarter as an athlete and a celebrity than to giftwrap the opportunity for them. That's why the thing that bothered me was that he went out of his way to start this whole fiasco. He never stopped to consider that such an overreaction was a possibility, and if he did he obviously didn't care about the consequenses. Stupid move either way.
The Stars let Avery go yesterday. He will NOT be coming back to the Stars. I did not think so based on what the players have said recently. If someone picks him up now........... don't know.
If he played football or basketball he might fit right in....
I love the fact that they let him go. What a turd. I don't care if he says his goal is get under people's skins, or that he's trying to promote the game (what a joke!).
