It's been said that hockey fans are the most passionaite fans in sports. It's interesting too, i think Hockey may have the most female fans out there. I was listening to a radio show one day when the 'Canes were making their championship run in 2006, the DJ said he'd never seen so many females at a sporting event. One female caller told the DJ that "Chicks dig hockey!"
You BOTH sound like my wife, who (like me) is also from Michigan. She's a huge Red Wings fanatic. I mean, I like hockey, and I faithfully follow my Wings, but she's the one who whoops and yells when the Wings score a goal. And she was all choked up when they retired Yzerman's jersey ... I mean, the tears were flowing.
There must be something about Michigan women and Red Wings hockey!!!

Yeah, but there is always U-M football! And especially when we trounce OSU. Sorry, Ohiogirl, I couldn't resist! LOL
We've had a couple bad years against OSU. I still hold out hope though. I LOVED the documentary that was on HBO called The Rivalry or something like that. Featuring the storied history of U of M vs. OSU. It was awesome!

Ha! I even rewatched it on YouTube and cried.
Sounds like I'd get along famously with your wife.

This would include me as well! I had season tickets to the Penguins when we lived in Pittsburgh. I named my first born son after an NHL hockey player. We now live near Knoxville and I have season tickets to the local SPHL team (they won the championship this year!). I dress up at Halloween like a hockey player, complete with blacked out tooth! I never saw my first game until I was an adult but I have been making up for lost time ever since!
Well, I do have my moments. Including letting out a big "whoop!" when the Wings score a goal. I grew up with 3 brothers and my dad was big into baseball, basketball and especially boxing. I'd say that honestly Hockey is the only professional sport I really love. Sure, I sit and watch NBA, NFL MLB. But hockey is it for me. I prefer watching college sports. Specifically NCAA football. (Yes, I'm a Wolverine fan. )
The year of the lockout was truly a bummer year. I remember thinking as the time passed, would it ever end? I just love watching it.
There are definitely sports I don't get. Golf for one. NASCAR for another.
I'm w/ you regarding sports you enjoy and dislike. But I prefer pro sports over college sports, not that I dislike college sports.
