Is going to be absolutely dominant. Seth Jones has been amazing so far at the pro-level. Team USA is going to have stellar goal tending (Quick, Anderson, or Howard?), a wall of a defense-Suter, Jones, Carlson, Byfuglien, Leddy, Shattenkirk, and Yandle to name a few.
The offense might not be as high octane as Canada, but goaltending and defense have proven many times that it is capable of making up the deficit (see the NJ Devils for years and years and years).
I don't see the US defense being any better than Canada's, though I would probably rank them above Russia. Canada's got the tandem of Keith and Seabrook, plus Pietrangelo, Boyle, Subban, Doughty - and probably a half dozen others who are olympic quality.
It's worth noting that playing the trap ala the 1990's Devils is not a particulalry effective strategy on the large Olympic ice surface. I don't think any of the US defensemen will be too slow to keep up, but it's not really a valid comparison.
I wil give the Americans the edge in goaltending - that's something that worries me about team Canada - with the passing of the Brodeur era, we don't really have a solid #1. Luongo and Fleury are the obvious choices, but both have struggled recently. Price is always highly touted, but never quite lives up to expectations.
In such a short tournament format, a hot goaltender can make all the difference in the world.
Well Team Canada vs. Team U.S. for a 2010 Gold medal Rematch would really be good since in 2010 Team USA won a game in the round robin and the gold medal game went to Double O.T. before Iggy got the Assist and the puck to Sid the Kid who made the infamous Golden Goal.
But heck coming from a Canadian the game could of went either way and both teams will be a lot different that we send to Sochi since the larger IIHF regulation ice surface means Canadian and American players have to adjust to the strict rules and larger ice which benefits Russian KHL players that left to play in the KHL since if it is anything like it was here in Canada the pressure to win in front of their country will be huge for their team so Russia might not be able to hold it together under the intense pressure and well cannot count out Sweden going the distance also.

The games are in Sochi, and the Russians feel they get screwed whenever they played in the west. Don't be surprised if their in the Gold medal game...and win.

Quick is questionable ATM, and our others haven't been as stellar as last year. Miller has been good though considering how weak the Buffalo D is.
As far as D, McD, Martin, Suter, J Johnson should all be locks. Jones is a bubble D ATM considering his age and experience.
