I would guarantee Chicago shoots up significantly if the last two seasons were taken into account.

Chicago is definitely a hockey town, but its tough when you dont win for almost 50 years and your team isnt on even televised. There was a lot that was going on with the organization that was wrong.

Is this an overall average? Average per year?

Lots of these teams have had new buildings during that span which would influence capacity. Just the Sabres alone played in the Aud until 1996, moved to the new Arena with a higher capacity. Saw attendance fall when new ownership jacked tickets up, attendance climb some as they gave tickets away to fill seats, then saw long sellout strings when they made it more affordable.

These days, there is a waiting list for season tickets. Something that would have been unheard of in 1990, or even 2000.

I am sure a similar story would be true of a large percentage of these teams, as attendance fluctuates over a couple decades.

Yep, after Billfold Wirtz died, the team took on an entirely different persona and direction. I don't think it's a coincidence that they've been so successful since he's died. I would even argue that if he wasn't so cheap, they might have won in the 90's as well instead of pushing guys like Belfour, Roenick, Amonte and Daze out of town.

Daze retired because of injury.
