Facebook started in 2004 but it was nothing until 2007 right after they opened it up to all the little kids rather than just university students. In fact it wasn't even like social networking back then, just a university network. But i don't agree that broadband was the norm in 2001 - 2002. Broadband wasn't really the norm until a few years later when internet speeds were getting better. I had dial up until 2006, most people i knew got broadband by 2004. Google as well wasn't highly popular until the mid 00's as the internet began to grow rapidly. So in the period of 2000 - 2006 those technologies were just beginning but it wasn't until 2006 and later that it began to flourish. That's when it became defined.

I believe the 90's lasted atleast until 2004. But there was a cutoff point from an old era to a modern era. 2006 is when the modern era brought everything together, myspace at a peak, dial up almost dead, facebook expanding, youtube beginning. And in 2007 and onwards smart technology appeared, and cell phones exploded, reality tv completely took over. The economic collapse of 2008 marked the beginning of the new era after the 2000's. So the 2000's were very short lived, with the 90's overlapping half of the 2000's as it faded. Yes 9/11 changed alot of things, but i clearly remember up until 2004 - 2005 that people still treated each other as they did earlier, hanging out, no social networking, those kind of things. But you could feel the 90's coming to a close in 2004, especially in the mainstream music. Atleast for me, radio was completely dead after 2004. Which coincides with the rise in pirating and the last artists of the 80's and 90's completing their careers. Besides the generation after world war II, i would consider the next golden age to grow up was the 80's until the mid 2000's, these two time periods were marked by economic growth and a more family centered environment, also a lack of constant war mongering over terrorism.

With all the info posted what decade do you think the USA became better, worse or other?

Best decade I believe was 1950s.

Worst decade by far in my opinion is 10-14 and we still have 6 years of it left.

for me it was so
late 2000s and early 2010s: 2009-2011
2012?
2013-present peak of the 2010s
The music of this period no guitar solos if they did not realize !.
put in google `year` 2020'' and saw that the future would be enough, too much useless technology

resembled the 2000s to the 2000s, but
They had a lot of the 1990s, and also resembled the years 2010s (not so much, more than anything at the end)

I think the 90s lasted from 1989 to 2001culturally. Basically the brief window between the collapse of the Berlin Wall and 9/11. I guess I'm biased since I started elementary school in 1989 and remembered the teacher mentioned something about the 2 Germanys joining in 1st grade. 9/11 happened the 1st month I was in college, so this period spanned essentially my childhood.

The 2000s after 2001 felt quite distinct from 1989-2001, not only did to the beginning of adulthood for me but the new post 9/11 America was a radical change in direction for the government at the time. I feel 2009 was the beginning of the 2010s as it coincided with the worst of the financial crisis but the subsequent years felt similar to 2001 to 2009.. Most elements of that era, particularly the 9/11 related rhetoric remain but a greater distrust of the wealthy and the financial markets has emerged despite a rapid recovery from the crisis.

What do you think would be the last year of the 2000s with a 90s influence?

2013/14 is equal to 2007?, no, there are differences between 2013/14 and 2007, look at the playstation 3 (2007) compare it to the playstation 4 (2013). There are differences even between early 2010s and now. Each time it evolves, things did not stay stagnant, 2007 was the beginning of the late 2000s, we are in 2014, we are in the middle of the decade of 2010s!
