Hello,

I have recently been having issues with the part of my right knee that is facing the inside or the left side of my right knee if I look down on it. I guess it is the MCL. It will hurt if I rub. At first it was above the knee on that side. Then I switched my sitting position when I drive, and now when I rub below my knee on that side it hurts. Any ideas?

If it were me, I'd start by taking a break from activities that aggravate it. That means no driving. I'd ice it, elevate it, and take ibuprofen. If it continued to hurt, I'd make an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. By seeing a specialist, you'll have a good idea of what's wrong with it at the very first appointment. Chances are you'll be sent to physical therapy If the doctor suggests surgery first, ask to try physical therapy first instead. Physical therapy can often produce amazing results.

When I had a sharp pain there on bending my knee to the side, it was a torn meniscus. Simple arthroscopic surgery fixed it

the thing is, I can still do everything without feeling any pain. I can still drive and not feel pain. It only hurts and feels tender when I rub or press down really hard. I can even still play hockey and not feel a thing. And the sensitive area has moved from the top to the lower part.

But has anyone hear of pushing on the gas and brake pedals cause problems like that?

If it doesn't hurt when you push on the gas and brake pedals, why do you think that would be the cause?

I cannot think of anything else. And what I did was change my sitting position and the sensitive area also moved.

I used to think it was from hockey stopping while playing hockey, but I have stopped that, but was still sensitive in that area. Then I changed sitting position, and the sensitivity moved

I don't know. Sometimes things get out of alignment. When something hurts one place, we compensate and the compensation can cause it to hurt somewhere else. That isn't proof that what we changed was the original cause of the pain. The hockey stop could still have been the cause, but you haven't completely healed from it yet.

For example. My son injured his foot while skiing. We know that for a fact. When he started walking differently on it to compensate, the pain went away in the original part of the foot but another part of his foot started to hurt. Walking isn't what caused the original pain. Skiing was. Just because the pain moved when he changed his walking doesn't mean that the walking was the original cause of the pain.

One time, my hip hurt really bad and my doctor said it was nothing and wouldn't refer me for physical therapy. A few weeks later, my knee was killing me. It's because I got all out of alignment and was walking funny to compensate for the pain. I went to a physical therapist myself. They treated my hip, not my knee. The pain went away.

If you haven't tried resting it, elevating it and taking ibuprofen, you really haven't done proper first aid the first moment you thought you injured it doing hockey stops. But changing everything you are doing and making adjustments can aggravate another part of your body.

If you don't go to the doctor and have it evaluated, you can only guess and speculate. There is also the issue that sometimes things hurt for no reason whatsoever.

Thank you for your responses

I guess I am also asking on here to see if anyone else has had knee issues from pushing on the car pedals. But I guess I will have to see the knee doctor.

I have but it was obvious because it hurt while I was pushing the clutch.

Yes it's called gas pedal knee and I get it because of the misalignment I use while pushing on the gas and brake pedal. There are exercises and stuff to help but mostly just need to center your foot better on the pedals.
