Anyone have any experience with antibiotics affecting the sense of smell...particularly how long it lasted? I just got home from the hospital after three days of IV antibiotics and I'm supposed to continue them for 10 more days.

Everything smells terrible...it's like I'm smelling everything 10x stronger than usual, but also overlaid by this nasty moldy/musty odor. The cat smells like it, the house, the rice I ate for dinner....even the ice tea. I literally was holding my nose while drinking it.

I've always been very sensitive to odor...I can smell a sliced cucumber in the kitchen from the attic. I don't know if I can go ten more days with this smell stuck in my nose and if it's permanent I don't know what I'll do!

I can only tell you that an antibiotic did that to one of my cats. He refused to eat at all as he could not smell it. When I discontinued it, he started eating. Call your doctor as maybe they can change it.
