for three weeks now I've been having obnoxiously loud stomach noises, all day long. It's frequent and audible enough that it's starting to give me anxiety pretty much throughout every day. It's pretty much noise alone--I don't have any pain, "bloating", BM issues, so I don't think it's IBS. It happens all the time but will calm down after I eat, so I've been eating something every two hours, and it seems to be better if I take antacids so I've been popping them like candy, even though there's no heartburn whatsoever.

So to me, it seems like there's definitely something wrong with the way I'm digesting food. Not sure why out of nowhere since I change my habits about as often as someone changes their address. I started drinking a thing of metamucil every morning and every night to see if that helps and I don't think it is.

Has anyone had an issue causing loud noise/digestion issues but no other symptoms? What did it end up being? I have a dr appt this weekend but it's my PCP--it's literally impossible to get a night time appointment with a gastroenterologist, which is where I'd rather go as opposed to going to my doctor just so he can tell me I have to go, but it is what it is.

Like I said, it's just causing a lot of anxiety. The other day I had a group meeting and it was two hours long in a small, quiet room and I was nervous the whole time that it would start up again because when it does, it doesn't stop. Antacids and pepto seem to stave it off *sometimes*, but the whole thing is a crap-shoot.

It sounds like liquid sloshing around, and sometimes it sounds like "squishing" type noises. Very, very loud. I'm a 30 year old guy with no prior health issues.

Sounds like liquids that haven't been digested yet. You could have a hiatal hernia causing some blockage. I'd suggest you see your doctor about this. He may recommend a stomach specialist for a follow up exam.

Thanks I ended up going to a doctor near my job (which offers negative flexability so getting appointments is a ***** and a half). Of course when I was finally in her office, not a single peep from my stomach (I made the mistake of not really eating that day, and when I ate lunch it was too close to the appointment so the process hadn't started yet. Of course 30 minutes after the appt it did. I was smart enough to record it a few times on my phone though so she did get an idea.

But unfortunately she wasn't like "oh yeah, that's this!". It's "go to Quest for a blood test", then get a breath test for bacteria, then we'll schedule an endoscopy based on what that says... I was really hoping it was something obvious. All of the things she suggested were things I tried already but obviously have to do it again since she doesn't know what I did or didn't do. I get it but it's frustrating.

I'm not even 100% sure it's my stomach at this point--there's absolutely a problem with how my body is digesting stuff. I ate VERY little today b/c of the blood test and there was very little noise all day. Before I even finished eating my dinner it started again. that was a couple hours ago and it got relatively quiet again, which is odd (I didn't have a soda today so maybe that helped).

So no one's come across something like this, huh? Digestion issues but no heartburn, vomiting, pain... (just discomfort). I'm actually really hoping it's H pylori because that's a quantifiable issue that can be fixed easily, and not some drawn out thing.

Thanks, needed the vent

I had H. pylori. My symptoms were an abrupt onset of vomiting so forceful that my abdominal muscles were sore for 2 days, followed by mildly painful cramping a few hours after eating. I thought it was a lingering virus. Then I had my 1st colonoscopy and he did a scope of my throat as I had GERD. He saw inflammation in
my stomach and did a biopsy.

The treatment was 4 different antibiotics for 2 weeks. I knew after 1 week that I was cured b/c the pain was gone. I finished the second week to be sure it was gone.

Is it gas, what some people call a "sideways fart"? It could be that your anxiety contributes to it. For some reason I tend to get more gas when I'm anxious (sometimes diarrhea too).

I've had that off and on for years. It has subsided to a managable level when I started eating yogurt daily. Never was fond of yogurt, but it will grow on you, if you give it time!

Yeah unfortunately that's why I don't think it's that--I don't have any of those symptoms and pretty much no pain at all. I've read that the bacteria can cause a bunch of problems so maybe that's still it. NOt that I "want" that exactly, but I just want something concrete and treatable.

Not anxiety, it's been over three weeks now. Plus I've been living with anxiety for my entire life so it's not like I'm not used to it, haha. Aside from that, anxiety issues don't last for weeks. I wish it was that!

Yogurt seriously disgusts me so I'm gonna try some probiotics and see if that gets me anywhere. Whatever this is it's starting to effect my appetite and a: that's how I know something's wrong and B: I don't tolerate things that effect my appetite.

Try taking some gas medicine...you can get Tums with simethicone added, or just simethicone by itself. It helps with bloating from gas and pain from gas. I'm not sure if it will help stomach noise, but it's cheap and so safe that you can give it to a newborn, so there's really no harm in trying it.

Have you tried eliminating some things from your diet? Many people do much better when they drop wheat. Or dairy.
