The highly contagious disease whooping cough has reached an epidemic level in California, state officials say, according to CNN affiliate KTLA.

There have been 910 recorded cases of whooping cough in the state as of June 15. Five babies have died from the disease this year.

I dont live in California, but wow really? I was wondering why I have been seen whooping cough commercials lately. Poor babies. I didnt think whooping cough was really around anymore.

Well, normally the prevalence is not that high. Nutjobs in Ca going on about how vaccines cause autism is what I perceive to most likely be the main cause of this.

And that's about it! Too many failed to get their children vaccinated because they feared the vaccine. Now, they are paying a price. I think if that they had lived back before vaccines, they would not have run the risk of the disease. It can really be a hard battle for many children. And it lasts for about six weeks.
