Anyone of you knows or could recommends a good to excellent health insurance firm that covers both NY& MD. If it includes NJ in addition to the previous 2 states in would be merrier. Seeking for one since my family ( of 2 presently) is scattered in these 2 states but I personally go to NJ to a chiropractor.

Blue Cross operates throughout the US; however, I don't believe they provide coverage outside the insured state and don't appear to make conversions in the way you are referencing it. I have NYS coverage but can and do use it elsewhere. The key is I have to pay out upfront in other States, and generally am permitted to pay only the co-pay in NYS.

Any health insurer that has a national PPO such as Beacon or Private Healthcare systems would work (which is essentially the same as the national Blue Cross network).

What you need is ideally any "A" rated national carrier with a National PPO network. STEER CLEAR OF HMOs! A PPO will cover you both inside the network and outside the network for an additional out of pocket cost. HMOs generally have zero coverage outside the network. They are essentially useless if the specialist you need to see to treat the rare condition you have is not part of the network. Also PPO plans let YOU control your care. HMO plans have primary care physician requirements that control your care.
