Thank you for sharing this information. This is my first time dealing with this issue so maybe you or someone else in the thread can help me with this. I'm in NM which is one of the 15 states that have partial protections. According to this information, would I be responsible for paying? I have a PPO insurance plan.

NM's rules appears to have just gone into effect last month on Oct 1, 2017. See https://www.nmlegis.gov/Sessions/17%...se/HB0313.html

Suggestion would be to contact NM's Superintendent of Insurance’s Managed Care Division

"Consumers can currently receive assistance contesting surprise, out of network balance bills by filing complaints with the Superintendent of Insurance’s Managed Care Division. Consumers can reach the Managed Care Division by calling 1-855-4-ASK-OSI (1-855-427-5674) or or completing the online complaint form here: Office of the Superintendent of Insurance "

Good Luck..........

Thank you!

I contacted that office to discuss balance bills and what they can do to help, they told me to go back to the insurance company, sigh. I'll try a different approach but I definitely appreciate the reference information.
