I read somewhere that you can use a product to keep the outside of your fridge from rusting. Anybody know what it is?

Thanks!

Wax? Get a stainless steel fridge? A painted surface should be fine unless it gets nicked or scratched.

Car wax will work for a couple of years. Eventually you'll need Krylon.

I second wax. Years ago, the store said to use plain old caranuba auto wax. It worked the same as specialty products for a fraction of the cost.

Stainless steel appliances don't work because the stainless appliances are made out of isn't of a high enough grade to actually "stain less". If the appliance is already rusting, then hit it with Ospho to stop the rust, prime it and paint it. After the paint has hardened, then wax it.

There is a clear coating material that can be applied to most kinds of steel, if I can remember the name I'll post it up. Other than that yes to the wax thing.

Forget about it! Its a fight you can't win.

If you reside on the windward side of any island, there simply isn't a commercially available refrigerator (painted or stainless) that will survive it long term. I know because I've had 'em all, stainless, white enamel, black enamel, every thing!

You can paint it, re-paint it, wax it or oil it, it isn't going to matter. Eventually, it'll rust, and at that point, even repainting with Rust-O-Leum won't stop it.

Lightbulb a tip: ACF-50

I found in "Affordable Paradise" by H. Skip Thomsen info on a product called ACF-50 that he gave referance to at $15 a can 2002 it is costly but " it goes a long way, IF properly applied "
Try Alumside Products 1-808-935-5485 or 1-800-2562548

I have not used the product, or even knows if it still is available - Just a tip. . . Good Luck
