I will be moving to Norfolk, VA (Norfolk, Virginia Beach) in January and I would love to rent a small place by the beach. I am single and have a dog, so a large place isn't neccessary. My budget is <1500 on rent and I have to have a place with a yard for my dog. Does anyone have any suggestions on neighborhoods or communities? Thanks!

There isn't anything close to the beach for that price, that I'm aware of, but there are nice apartments in that range. Check out Apartments For Rent to see a list of them and there is one here that is nice, allows dogs, and has an on-site dog park.

Good Luck!

'By close the beach' i mean with in about 5 blocks or so. Do you happen to know the name of the apartment complex with the onsite dog park?

Banyan Grove, I believe. It's down by the town center. There are a few apartments within walking distance of the beach, but they will most-likely be full this time of year. Be on the look out for condos that people are renting out by month for the winter. There are a few of them around here and you will have to speak to a Realtor to get in on the deal. I've seen two since I've been looking again for an apartment and they are nice. The two I saw were fully furnished, most utilities included, on the beach, and with stuff like in-door pools. Nice places, just ask a Realtor in the Atlantic Ave. area of Virginia Beach.

Ocean View has some nice apartments, just be careful where you live around there, some places in Ocean View are nice and others are a little sketchy. It's cleaning up a lot though. You can sometimes find nice apartments at the oceanfront for your budget.
