Try Verizon. I know I would like to have high speed out here where I am and the only ones seeming to offer it is Charter and they are saying about 20 for the first 6 mos, then approx 50 there after. That is just too much.

Verizon is running something about 13 dollars, but I don't know what the promotion is...

If you get Cox standard and expanded (TWC, Disc, CNN), plus COX internet service - but ask them to throttle you down to like 340kbps (I think) - it's only about $75 a month for both. Otherwise you're looking at like $90/month via COX.

I don't really notice any issues with the download speed - it's still pretty darn fast.

Cox cost 41.95 a month for high speed internet, and you don't have to get cable in order to get internet... just a cable modem and for wireless, a router. Or just mooch of your neighbors. Just kidding.

I already have cable..Well the APT has Cable TV. (I am going to have the technician do the Installation cause I am clueless about that) I would like Wireless but I guess that would be another expense in Purchasing a Wireless Router eh? Rather if I just went with an old-fashioned Ethernet Cord...
I am just looking for some Fast-Internet and not really looking to plunk down a whole lot. Yea and Preferrably not DIAL-UP..nightmare
I know Cox and Verizon (Verizon is good, love them for my cell, but that NEW FIOS looks Pricey!!)was wondering what other companies might be out there.

If you have a Verizon cell, you can get a great deal on their dsl internet service. Call em' and talk to em'. They have various packages. We keep our home phone with unlimited long distance because of our kids and families who live out of state. We have verizon cells, but not every state, nook and crannie has verizon, so the in-network doesn't work for us all the time.

I do have a Verizon Cell but it doesn't appear DSL is available in my 23508 Zipcode..But the High-Speed Internet Is.

Looks like it will be Cox or Verizon High-Speed..Any recommendations on who would be better to deal with?? More reliable???

Cox Web Site Says the least expensive is "$14.95 per month for 3 months!!! (regular: $26.95/month)" ...so does that mean after my 3 months I will be paying the 26.95?? Up to 1.5Mbps and 256Kbps speed

Verizon High-Speed Says...$12.99/mo. (months 2-6)
$17.99/mo. (months 7-12) Up to 1.5Mbps and 256Kbps speed

...Just need the Internet to browse for Internships mostly and some other work related things. Nothing too crazy like gaming.

For some of my family in Virginia Beach, although I remember it being difficult to find on the Cox website, you can throttle down the speed to like 512 kbps download and 256 upload for $14.95/month, permanently. I think I had to be in the order process and playing around with the options before I found it. They don't download much if at all so it works out much better than a $45/month speed that they wouldn't ever utilize. They get it with the standard cable for around $65/month.

I think the price you quoted at $27/mo is the value tier and I'm referring to the economy tier if you're looking for an even smaller price. And you can buy the modem for like $40-$60, depending on if they're running a special and not have to pay those rental fees. Then don't get them to install the wireless system for you. You can get a wireless router off of Amazon for about $40 and do it yourself in about 10 mins. Whenever I talk about the deal I set them up with to other people in the area, they're always a bit surprised at what all they're getting for the price. Most people go with something more expensive, mainly because that's all Cox advertises and informs people about unless they do their own research.

Also if you're looking into getting landline phone. Cavalier has some good deals that are far better than either Cox or Verizon. They even throw in a rental modem and connect you for free. But they'll only bundle the internet with either tv or phone and it sounds like you don't need either one of those.

Edit: here's the link to the 'plans and pricing' on Cox's website that shows the even cheaper economy tier internet speeds.
