Areas which feed into Kempsville, Salem, Princess Anne, or Ocean Lakes in VB. Areas that feed into Grassfield or Great Bridge in Chesapeake would be the ones that come to mind right away. I'd add Hickory, Cox, and First Colonial but I don't think you can get a suburban home in your price range in those districts. The only reason I shy away from Norfolk as well is that decent schools in your price range probably would be really tough.

There are interracial couples and babies all over the place around here I really don't think it would be an issue anywhere. My wife and I are a mixed couple with a multi-racial kid and people don't even give us a second glance.

There are great schools and suburban neighborhoods on the Peninsula as well (York County) but you sounded like you were Southside specific. Find a job then go from there, no reason to give up an hour of your life everyday commuting if you don't have to. Search the old threads as well, this topic has been discussed at length previously.

Yeah, race isn't an issue here at all. Most of the couples I know, honestly, are mixed-race.

This makes me smile I'm looking into Virginia for my honey's next tour. Orders led to Hawaii till 2018 and its lovely for some, just not for me so I'm already plotting our escape hehe. We are mixed as well and enjoy being surrounded by different cultures (mostly for the fooooood) I've managed a pretty decent living most of my life as a casino dealer, can anyone tell me what the casino life is like out there?

Unfortunately there are no casino's as of yet in VA, Maryland has them and I believe the closest is in the National Harbor development just across the Potomac from Alexandria, which is a distance of about 150 miles.

MGM National Harbor is under construction and is set to open in the second half of 2016. At present, the closest options around the I-95 corridor are Maryland Live in Hanover and the Horseshoe in Baltimore. From Norfolk, the closest MD "casino" is Ocean Downs in Berlin, but it doesn't (yet) spread table games. Farther up US-13 is Harrington Raceway & Casino in DE (which actually has table games and a poker room), which is still a shorter drive from some parts of Hampton Roads than MD Live.

People are probably afraid that we still hang those guilty of miscegenation or something.
